Spring Skincare Transition: Adjusting Your Routine for the Season
Mar 8th 2024
With winter coming to an end, we are welcoming spring with open arms! But just like you prepare for winter, you have to prepare for spring as well.
Springtime means new life, flowers blooming, and rejuvenation. Well, the same goes for us! This is the perfect time to refresh your skincare routine. There are a few simple changes that you can make to prepare for the upcoming season.
Clean the Slate
In order to adjust to the changes the season has on your skin, you need to start fresh! It's time to wake up your skin and get that glow back! The best way to do this is to get rid of all that dry, dead skin that has been building up over the winter and exfoliate! We recommend a sugar scrub. Sugar scrubs made with organic cane sugar are strong enough to get rid of all those dead skin cells but aren't so harsh that they dry out the skin, leaving it raw.
Keep it Consistent
Exfoliation is a great habit to get into! However, it is important to note that you don't want to over-exfoliate. You need to give your skin time to grow and heal, so exfoliating once or twice a week would be ideal. Another great practice is body brushing. Body brushing acts as another form of exfoliation. This can be done in the shower or even just dry. Body brushing is amazing for waking up the skin, evening skin tone, and promoting circulation! Body brushing does tend to be a harsher way of exfoliation, so listen to your body; it's about what type of exfoliation works for you and your skin!
Protect!!!
Removing the toxins and cleaning the skin is one thing, but protecting it is another. It is so important to take those few extra steps and protect your skin so it can be healthy. With springtime here, we inevitably will be spending more time outside. With that being said, we are in the sun more. A lot of sun exposure can take a toll on your skin, so it is important to use sunscreen or a moisturizer with built-in sun protection.
Speaking of moisturizer... don't forget to moisturize, even in the warmer months, especially if you are consistently exfoliating! Now, your moisturizer may change just like the season; during the winter, you may lean towards those heavy-duty body butters and lotions. But during the spring, you need to let your skin breathe! It may be beneficial to look for a lighter weight, water-based moisturizer. With higher temperatures, you are sweating more, so it is important for your body, including your skin, to stay hydrated and replenish all the water that your body loses throughout the day.
Spring into Spring!
These are just the basic building blocks of skincare for spring; there's so much more to explore! Plus, there's nothing more fun than exploring all of the new spring and summer scented body care products that will brighten your senses and your day!!
