Flagship Roots is a purpose-driven NIL partnership powered by 1883 Sports, The Roots Program, and the University of North Dakota community.

Why Flagship?
We’re proud of being the state’s flagship university and all that it represents.
We believe that the best parts of North Dakota all have ties
to UND. As UND goes, North Dakota goes, and vice versa.
It’s been a special and impactful relationship between
the state and the University, dating back to 1883
when the university was founded.
Why Roots?
Real impact starts at ground level.
The Roots Program serves a unique and often overlooked
part of the community — creating dignity, belonging,
and meaningful engagement.
Flagship Roots connects UND student athletes directly
into that mission — not as sponsors, but as participants,
advocates, and neighbors.
